Osprey Approach Add-in for Microsoft Outlook

Important

Osprey Approach Add-in is only available to Outlook Desktop 2013 or higher.

Osprey Approach Add-in does not support Outlook for iOS and Android.

Osprey Approach add-in for Microsoft Outlook allows you to create and save emails from Outlook directly to the appropriate Matter in Osprey Approach.

Installing the Osprey Approach Add-in for Microsoft Outlook

When you enable the Osprey Approach Add-in in either Outlook 365 or Outlook desktop (with a 365 Business Premium subscription), the Add-in will automatically be added to the other as well.

Outlook Desktop

Open the Outlook desktop app then click on “Store” in the Add-ins group.

In the Add-in window, search “Osprey Approach” then click on “Add” button.

Once you close the Add-ins window, an Osprey Approach Add-in button will be added to the Home ribbon.

Save current email to Matter

Select an email and click the “Export E-mail & Post Time” button from the home ribbon.

Once you log in, the Client/matter Search will be displayed.

The next action is to choose the client and matter. In order to find the desired client, “Search” and “Advanced Search” are available.

The results are displayed in the grid. Column descending and ascending sorting is available as well by clicking on the column’s header.

The last step is to input a description, select the desired additional details for your e-mail, such as the folder, the custom type and the retention period and choose whether you want to save your e-mail with or without a time posting. You also have the possibility of choosing to export your e-mail and create new records for each attachment in “Matter History” or choose “Export E-mail Only”. The “Export E-mail Only” option will save the e-mail without creating new records for the attachments but they will be available in matter history under the attachments tab.


If you choose to export your e-mail with time posting, the following part will be displayed. After you fill up the details, click on “Export & Post Time” or “Export E-mail Only & Post Time” and the e-mail will be exported in Matter History.

Compose a new email

Open a new email window and click on “Setup E-mail” button. The first step is to search and select your client and matter.

You can select an e-mail template from the dropdown list, from Osprey Approach as well as add recipients by clicking on the email address from Client/Matter Contacts or Contacts/Organisations.


You can attach and convert supported files to pdf if needed or add packages.
