The Osprey product update – Q2 2026

The new era of Osprey continues. Here’s what we’ve released in the first half of 2026.
At Osprey, we believe law firm software should grow with you. That means listening to what firms need, acting on that feedback, and consistently delivering improvements that make a real difference to how you run your practice.
During the start of 2026, we’ve introduced a significant new feature for managing employee expenses and overtime, expanded our tools for marketing-ready contact management, and continued to strengthen our integrations with Microsoft Outlook and Perfect Portal – all while maintaining the platform stability our clients depend on.
Here’s what’s new:
Take control of expenses and overtime
Managing employee expenses has historically meant spreadsheets, email chains, disconnected systems and manual reconciliation. We’ve changed that with Osprey.
Osprey now includes a fully integrated expense and overtime claims workflow, giving firms a single place to submit, review, approve, and process claims – all connected directly to your matter management and accounts.

Fee earners can submit claims against specific matters, attach receipts, and track the status of their submissions. Approvers get a clear overview of outstanding claims and can process payments, reject, or request more information – all without leaving Osprey.
For firms where expenses are rechargeable to clients, Osprey handles the accounting automatically: recoverable expenses generate the correct ledger postings and are documented in the Matter History, ensuring your records are complete and audit-ready.

This is the kind of joined-up functionality that removes administrative friction from your team’s day – and it’s built into the platform you already use.

Smarter contact management for marketing-ready firms
Your third-party contact database is one of your most valuable business assets – but only if the data in it is useful. We’ve made significant improvements to how Contacts and Organisations work in Osprey, directly in response to client feedback.
We’ve added new fields that matter for modern law firm marketing: marketing mailing categories, introduction sources, and email opt-in status – including timestamps and source URLs for GDPR compliance. These fields are filterable, meaning you can quickly segment your contacts for targeted campaigns.

You can now export your contacts and organisations as a CSV file, making it straightforward to sync your data with marketing platforms like HubSpot and get more from your client relationships.
For firms looking to grow through referrals, repeat business, or targeted outreach, this update closes the gap between your practice management system and your marketing activity.
Stronger integrations: Outlook and Perfect Portal
The tools law firms rely on should work seamlessly together. Two of our key integrations received significant attention this quarter.
Microsoft Outlook Add-In: We’ve made major stability improvements to the Osprey Outlook Add-In, addressing the most commonly reported pain points. Emails compose reliably, metadata retrieval is more robust, and the overall experience of filing emails to matters from Outlook is faster and more dependable.
Perfect Portal: Firms using Perfect Portal for conveyancing enquiry management will benefit from improved two-way data flow. New client and matter references now sync back to Perfect Portal automatically, custom data fields are better supported, and date handling has been improved for more reliable data transfer. The integration between the two platforms continues to get tighter.
A platform that keeps getting better
Beyond the headline features, Q2 brought a wide range of improvements to the everyday Osprey experience:
- Email attachments now support larger file sizes, reducing friction when sharing documents with clients and colleagues
- Time recording has been improved, with smarter defaults that reduce the number of manual steps needed when posting time
- Dozens of targeted bug fixes across matters, key dates, documents, and the accounts module improve day-to-day reliability
These improvements reflect our commitment to delivering a platform that not only grows in capability but becomes more polished and dependable with every release.
Built on what firms actually need
Every feature in this update was shaped by real feedback from law firms. The expenses workflow, the contact management improvements, the integration enhancements – all of them came from conversations with the firms we work with about what would make a genuine difference.
If you’re evaluating practice management software and want to see what a regularly developed, actively maintained platform looks like in practice, we’d love to show you.
