Enhanced tools for matter oversight
Matter undertakings
Managing undertakings is now clearer and more controlled. These updates help teams avoid premature matter closure and maintain full visibility over outstanding commitments.
Key improvements
- Clear status indicators: Matters show “Outstanding undertakings” or “Undertakings complete” in multiple locations, including the workspace details panel.
- Archiving protection: Users are prevented from archiving matters that still have outstanding undertakings, with clear warnings displayed when necessary.
- New undertakings page: A single, centralised view of all undertakings across the firm for better oversight.
This enhancement gives supervisors and fee earners greater clarity and reduces risk across all practice areas.

Greater billing accuracy with VATable disbursements
Billing disbursements is now far more flexible, ensuring VAT is applied correctly and consistently.
What’s new
- Choose VAT on any disbursement: Fee earners can now apply VAT regardless of how the disbursement was originally posted.
- Simplified billing: Ideal for cases involving travel, mileage, transferred costs, and other mixed categories.
- Improved requisition workflow: Reduces manual adjustments and ensures invoices always reflect the correct VAT treatment.
This update gives firms better control over billing accuracy while reducing time spent correcting invoices.

LAA SaBC Fee Code update for contingency period matters
The Legal Aid Agency now requires a single fee code for all contingency period submissions (April–December 2025) made through the new SaBC service.
In accordance with recent LAA regulations, you can now select the applicable fee code within the contract work forms editor, which will autofill fields such as ‘stage reached’, ‘youth court’ and ‘duty solicitor’, removing the need to manually enter the relevant information. The selected fee code and associated details will then be pulled through to the Legal Aid CSV file.
Key Dates
- 4 February 2026 — SaBC goes live
- 17 February 2026 — Deadline for January 2026 submissions
- 18 February–20 March 2026 — Period for uploading historic contingency claims
